Udupi : Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kanajar celebrated its platinum jubilee at a grand function held at the church premises on May 16, Thursday.
Bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo and Vicar General Msgr Dr Baptist Menezes were the chief guests. The bust of the Founder of the Church Msgr William A Lewis was unveiled by the Bishop on the occasion. The Bishop celebrated the mass along with the Vicar General, Fr John A Barboza, Vicar Forane of Karkala and Dr John Mendonca, Parish Priest of the Church.
A special souvenir brought out to mark the platinum jubilee was released by the Vicar General at a function held at Kanajar Sauharda Bhavan. A message sent by Pope Francis from the Vatican was read out by him.
Winners of various cultural contests and Bible Quiz were awarded. A Platinum Jubilee lunch was also served to the guests and the participants.
