Mangaluru: Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader informed that the government is planning to come out with a set of rules with regard to installing mobile and other frequency towers in the state.
Addressing the reporters at Circuit House on Saturday, November 17 Khader said, “there are no proper guidelines now to erect mobile and other frequency towers and hence we see such towers installed near residential and densely populated area, including near educational institutions. Followed by public complaints, the government is planning to form a set of rules pertaining to installing towers. The draft copy is almost ready now and after receiving the approval from the cabinet, the final notification will be issued in this regard“, he said.
“Earlier, no permission was needed even from the local bodies while erecting the frequency towers. Hence, no government department has exact statistics on the number of towers in the state. In order to put a break on installing frequency towers randomly, the government has planned to come out with a set of rules“, Khader clarified.
Goa’s ban on Karnataka’s fish has affected more
Speaking about the Goa government’s decision to ban the sale of fish in the state from neighboring states for six months, Khader expressed his displeasure on the move. “ The Goa government has taken the decision hastily and it has severely affected fishermen from Karnataka due to the fall in fish prices. Karnataka government is making all efforts to persuade Goa to lift its ban on fish from Karnataka. I have already spoken with the Fisheries minister of Karnataka in this regard and take measures to insist Goa government to lift the ban. If the Goa government will not budge into our request, it is necessary us to take retaliation move on the products of Goa“, he said.
