Mangaluru: In a surprising incident, a government employee in taluk office sought bribe in front of an MLA, claiming that he has to transfer the money to the Finance Department (FD) of the state, on Saturday, September 15.
The accused has been identified as Sadanand, an Executive Officer (EO) of Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat. According to the sources, Sadanand allegedly sought bribe money from Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) so as to release the money, meant for some gram panchayats. When Sadanand demanded money for releasing gram panchayats fund, the GP PDOs concerned complained to Mangaluru North MLA Dr. Y Bharath Shetty. Immediately, MLA Bharath Shetty rushed to Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat and questioned Sadanand. But, instead of getting nervous before the MLA, Sadanand justified his move saying that demanding money from the PDOs was inevitable to him as he has to give money to the finance department of the state.
Shocked by this, the MLA warned him to release the fund immediately. He also informed that measures would be taken after complaining to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat. The video footage of this incident has gone viral on social media now.
