Mangaluru: This year the Mangaluru Dasara will be different from the previous years as Kudroli temple authorities have decided to take the trucks carrying the Goddess Sharada idol first. The trucks carrying tableaus will be allowed to move behind the trucks with the idols like Navadurga and Lord Ganesha.
Former Union minister and temple renovation committee chairman B Janardhan Poojary informed on Friday, September 27, that in the previous years, the idols of Navadurga, Sharada and Ganesha were taken in decorated trucks at the end of the procession. But this year, the Sharada idol will be in front of the procession and all the other tableaus will follow.
Meanwhile, Poojary stayed mum about the person who will inaugurate the Mangaluru Dasara, despite repeated queries from the reporters regarding the same. He only said that their identity will be revealed on the day of the inauguration. “I have been trying to bring that great personality to the inauguration of the Mangaluru Dasara. However, he is yet to confirm his presence on that day,” he added.
Informing about the Navarathri Utsav and Mangaluru Dasara celebrations, temple treasurer Padmaraj R said, “The auspicious celebrations at Gokarnanatha Kshetra Kudroli will be held from September 29 to October 9. The installation of the Nava Durga and Sharada idols will be held on Sunday, September 29, at around 11.20 am. The Dasara procession will start from Gokarnanatha Kshethra at 4 pm on October 8.”
Temple committee president H S Sairam, vice president Raghavendra Kuloor, secretary Madhav Suvarna, Trustees B K Tharanath, Ravishankar Mijar, K Maheshchandra, temple development committee co-president Urmila Ramesh Kumar and others were present.
