Mangaluru: While the debate on construction of the Ram Temple on the disputed Babri Masjid site keeps raging on, here is a man from our very own coastal district, the president of Eliya Sri Vishnumurthy temple in Puttur here who has shown us the way forward by donating 12 cents of his land to a local mosque.

Mohan Rai, a native of Olemundovu village under Keyyur gram panchayat was reportedly approached by the mosque committee members for a portion of his land, which happens to be located near the mosque in order to carry out their expansion plans. Rai who firmly believes in the ‘God is one” principle and has even been participating in the programmes at masjid agreed to their request on December 15.

“I am donating only a part of what I have received from God,” stated Rai further asserting the need to respect all religions and the need to rise above caste-based discriminations that often fuel hatred among people.

The masjid authorities thanked him for the gesture and appreciated this move.
