Mangaluru: The Urwa police arrested nine persons for allegedly engaging in gambling and seized vehicles and cash worth of Rs 10,93,190 from their possession on Sunday, February 10.
The arrested have been identified as Ashok Shetty alias Kori Shetty (49), a resident of Derebail, Anand (49) of Ashoknagar, Rajashekhar alias Bend Raja (46) of Jappinamogaru, Thilak Raj (33) of Kolnad, Mulki, Sharath Kumar (37) of Konchady, Neelappa Bheemappa Meti (30) of Bagalkot district, Sajid Ahmed (48) of Kulashekar, Jeevan Kumar (59) of Karangalpady and Sooraj Thimmappa Poojary (42) of Jappinamogaru.
Sources from Urwa police station informed that based on credible information, a team of police headed by Urwa Inspector Maruthi G Nayak, under the direction of Mangaluru sub-division ACP Bhaskar Okkaliga rushed to Karangalpady Majestic Commercial Complex and found men engaged in gambling. Police also seized three motorcycles and a car, 11 mobile phones and cash, totally worth Rs 10,93,190 from their possession.
A case has been registered at Urwa police station in this regard.
