Mangalore:In a major crackdown, the police raided an illegal gambling centre at Pumpwell in Mangalore on September 24, Tuesday evening and arrested nearly 30 persons. A cash of Rs 1,80,570 has been seized from them.
The raid was following a tip off and was led by Panambur ACP Ravikumar and CCB Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna. Kankanady Rural Inspector Ravish Naik was also part of the raiding team. Police also found packets of playing cards at the gambling centre which had no name.
A case has been registered and the CCB is conducting further investigations.
It is learnt, police are planning to target such gambling centres in other parts of the city too.
