Gambling: CCB police nab 21 persons with valuables

Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested 21 persons in connection with gambling from a homestay, located at Adyar and seized valuables worth Rs 86,47,700 from their possession on Monday, January 14.

The arrested have been identified as Melvin Vishwas D’Souza, Sharath Kumar, Guruprasad, Raja, Mohammed Haneef, Shivaraj, Anwar, Adarsh, Radhakrishna Nair, Arwin D’Souza, Mahadevappa, Kumaranath Shetty, Alwyn Richard, Ganesh V S, Preetham, A B Basheer, Sawan, Nithin D’Souza, Abeeb Hussain, Denzil Wilson D’Souza and Mohammed Haneef.

Sources from CCB police informed that the accused were indulged in gambling in a homestay, owned by Suresh Shetty of Adyar. Based on credible information, a team of police headed by CCB Sub Inspector Kabbal Raj had been to the spot and nabbed the accused. However, homestay owner Suresh Shetty succeeded in escaping from the place.

Police seized 8 cars, one auto rickshaw, 24 mobile phones, the total worth of Rs 86,47,700 from their possession. The accused would be produced before the court, police sources informed.
