Foundation stone for Narayana Guru Study Centre building at MU to be laid on Jan 12

Mangaluru: The Mangalore University is all set to get a Brahmashree Narayana Guru Study Centre building on the University campus. The foundation stone laying ceremony for the same will be held on January 12 at 10.30 am.

Addressing a news conference, University Vice-Chancellor Dr P S Yadapadithaya said that the foundation stone for the study centre building will be laid by district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

The VC said that the said centre will be built on a one-acre land, which will gradually be upgraded to accommodate all the study centres functioning in the University.

“There are as many as 19 centres, including Narayana Guru Study Centre that are functioning in the University. The said piece of land will be used to house all these 19 centres and the work in this direction will be taken up in phases,” said the VC adding that the building dedicated to the Narayana Guru Study Centre will come up at a cost of Rs 3.5 crores.

He said that Phase I of the project has been taken up at a cost of Rs 50 lakhs that has been released by B K Hariprasad, Member of Parliament representing Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha. “We intend to complete the project within two years,” he said.
