Mangaluru: Former minister and senior JDS leader K Amarnath Shetty (80) passed away during the wee hours of Monday, January 27.
Shetty was suffering from age-related illness and was admitted to the hospital a few days ago.
Shetty began his political carrier as a Gram Panchayat president. He was elected as MLA from Moodbidri constituency for the first time in 1983. Later, he was elected from the same constituency in 1987 and 1994. He served as the minister of Tourism and Religious Endowment.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
