Five PG doctors test positive for COVID-19 in M’luru; 30 medical staff quarantined

Mangaluru: As many as five PG doctors studying at the City’s Kasturba Medical College, have been tested positive for Corona Virus, sending a shockwave across the medical and para-medical fraternity in the district. Following this, as many as 30 medicos and para-medical staff have been quarantined.

KMC in a press release clarified the situation as follows 

“5 Postgraduate doctors of Kasturba Medical College who were deputed at Govt. Lady Goschen Hospital & District Wenlock Hospital have tested positive for Corona Virus. All of them are asymptomatic and are being treated at the designated COVID Hospital in Mangalore. Their health condition is stable. The contact tracing is done and all their contacts are being quarantined as per Govt. guidelines. The areas where they were working has also been sanitized.”

Karnataka is seeing a spike in cases of Corona and many frontline health workers including the policemen are being tested positive.

It may be recalled that the state’s tally of COVID positive cases crossed 10,000 marks on Wednesday evening. Dakshina Kannada district has 457 positive cases as of Wednesday evening.
