Mangaluru: Fishermen leader and former chairman of Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation (KFDC) Ramachandra Baikampady has urged the fishermen to support the BJP. He has stressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced of forming a separate ministry for fisheries, which will help the fishermen in a big way.

Addressing the reporters at the BJP’s election office on Sunday, April 14 , he said, what the Congress could not do in the past six decades, the BJP government has done in the short span of five years. Forming a separate ministry for fisheries was a long pending demand of fishermen and the Congress government did not meet the demand.

“As the BJP government included it in the election manifesto and promised of forming separate ministry for fisheries, it would largely help the fishermen community”, he said.

“All season fishing harbour would also come up at Kulai as the foundation stone has already been laid for the same recently by the union government. It was also a long pending dream of the fishermen. The union government is also planning to connect big port with the smaller ports under Sagar Mala project. The union government extended the Kisan credit card scheme to the fishermen recently. As fishermen community has reaped many benefits in the last five years from Narendra Modi led union government, all fishermen should support the BJP and help to re-elect Modi as the prime minister of the country,” he said.

Leaders like Yashwanth Amin, Shobhendra Sasihithlu among others were present.
