First Vistadome Coach Service In Four Southern Zones Flagged Off

Mangaluru: The inaugural run of Vistadome coach service between Mangaluru Junction – Yeshvantpur – Mangaluru Junction took place on Sunday July 11 at Mangaluru Junction.

BJP State President and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel presided over the function. Among the dignitaries present at the function were Premananda Shetty, Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath, Mayor Of Mangalore City Corporation Premanand Shetty and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V.

MP Kateel and other dignitaries flagged off the Train No. 06540/06539 Mangaluru Jn – Yeshvantpur Express Weekly Special at 9:15 am.

About the express train

Speaking on the occasion, Kateel said that the train goes through beautiful landscape and through these two sophisticated coaches provided for this special train has all the luxury passengers travelling in the train can enjoy both nature and religious places along the train journey. He called upon public to make use of this opportunity and visit tourist places in our very beautiful State – Karnataka. He added that complete unmanned gate along the tracks has been planned by our Government and will be put in place soon, he added. He also lauded railway officials for their cooperation and sincere deliverance of duty.

This is the first time such a coach has been introduced in the four Southern zones of the railways,” said M. K. Gopinath, Public Relations Officer of Southern Railway. The two coaches will have 88 seats (44 each) which the people can book, he added. He explained that the people can enjoy the beautiful landscape outside through the wide, large windows of the coaches. The roof is also transparent for the passengers to get a panoramic view of their journey.

This express train will give an enchanting view of the Western Ghats, specifically Sakleshpur – Subrahmanya Road Ghat section which gives a picturesque view of the majestic mountains and the serene lands of the region. Through this new addition, Railways hope to tap into the tourism potential of the sector.

The coaches are equipped with fire safety systems, LED display, oven and refrigerator, mini pantry, multi-tiered steel luggage shelves. The seats have foldable snack tables, similar to those in the aircrafts. The coaches are also equipped with GPS bases public address system and Braille signage to assist ‘Divyang’ (visually impaired) passengers. A lounge like space is also provided at the far end of the coach with a large viewing window. Bogies with AIR-Spring suspension in secondary stage for better ride comfort is also installed in the coaches. Automatic sliding doors are placed at the compartment’s entry on the both sides.

CCTV system for on board surveillance has also been introduced in the coaches.
