Mangaluru: Remembering the slain RTI activist Vinayaka Baliga, two years after his murder, the “Deshapremi Sanghatanegala Okkutta” had organised a solidarity march from Venkatramana Temple to the residence of Vinayaka Baliga at Kalakunja Road on March 22.

Later, addressing the gathering at CBEU Hall, rationalist Narendra Nayak said, “The prime accused in the murder of Vinayaka Baliga is on bail from the court and roaming freely violating the associated conditions. The ‘Deshapremi Sanghatanegala Okkutta’ will continue the legal battle, till all the accused have been punished by the court.”

“Murder of an RTI activist is an insult to the civilized society. It is the responsibility of each individual to protest against such injustices”, Nayak said.

Activist Dr. P V Bhandary also said, “Assault and murders of RTI activists are increasing in the country. Nearly 63 activists have been murdered in the country so far. This is an indication that the democracy is in danger. The government and politicians are supporting those who loot the taxpayers’ money.”

Professor Panditharadhya, Keshava Dharani, Wilfred D’Souza, Harsha Baliga, sister of Vinayak Baliga and others spoke during the occasion.
