Mangaluru/Bengaluru: Former professor and former dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the Mangalore University, Prof. Jayagopal Uchil breathed his last on August 17. He was 75.
Prof. Jayagopal was mortally wounded in an accident that occurred at Hosur Road in Bengaluru on Friday. Though he was shifted to Greenfields Hospital, HSR Layout, he could not be saved, said sources. He leaves behind his wife Jayasheela Jayagopal and two daughters.
His last rites would be held at the Hebbal Crematorium on Sunday, August 19 afternoon, family sources said.
In his career as an educator, Prof. Jayagopal had served as the dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, member of Senate, Academic Council and Syndicate of Mangaluru University. He was also the founder chairman of the Department of Material Science of the university.
