Essential services from 8 AM to 11 AM, other guidelines for DK lockdown

lockdown mluru 14072020Mangaluru: The week-long lockdown in the Dakshina Kannada district will start at 8 PM on July 15 and will continue till 5 AM on July 23. The guidelines were issued by the DC on Tuesday, July 14.

District Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sindhu B Rupesh, in a circular, said, “The lockdown will be in place from 8 pm on July 15 till 5 am on July 23. Medical services, police, home guards, emergency services, city corporation and jail, offices pertaining to water and electricity, court and offices for monitoring COVID-19 will be open outside containment zones.”

General stores, fruits and vegetable, and meat stalls will be open from 8 AM to 11 AM.

She added that religious places will be closed for public and no religious meetings can be held. Additionally, theatres, shopping malls, gyms, stadiums, parks, swimming pools, bars, wine shops and auditoriums will not function during the lockdown.

Taxis, auto-rickshaws and cab services will not function, except vehicles being used for emergency services.

“Train and flight services will continue as scheduled and the passengers’ tickets will be considered as passes to travel. Hence, they can travel in taxis and autos to the respective stations,” the DC stated in the circular.

Schools, colleges and coaching centres will remain closed. Online classes and distant education will continue, it added.

Additionally, hotels and restaurants will remain open only for parcels. Emergency service related vehicles will be allowed to ply and people will be allowed to avail medical services.

Banks, ATM service, newspaper, internet, cable services, e-commerce for medicines, food and medical supply will not be affected.

“The movement of public and private vehicles are completely restricted. The containment zones will be completely closed.

“Students attending exams can travel with the use of their hall tickets. Teachers going for SSLC exam evaluation can also travel,” the DC added in the circular.
