Eight govt school students fall ill after drinking well water

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, eight students from the Government Higher Primary School in Shibaje Perla took ill after drinking water from the well located within the school’s premises, on Monday, December 2.

Monis (12), Sudeep (12), Rajesh (12), Shravan (12), Chethan Kumar (13), Radhakrishna (14), Sudeesh (14) and Yogish (14) are the kids who were affected.

According to reports, the students drank the water while watering the plants in the school premises, after which they experienced vomiting and stomach ache.

They were rushed to the Primary Health Centre and later, four of them were moved to a hospital in Belthangady.

Those who were seriously ill were moved to Mangaluru’s Wenlock Hospital.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police B M Lakshmiprasad has confirmed that all the students are out of danger and are responding to the treatment.

“The water samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing and the reports will be revealed soon. Till the reports arrive, no one will be allowed to take water from the well,” he said.
