Mangaluru: The officials of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and Health Department intensified their drive against unclean sites and collected penalty of Rs 85,000 from those residents who were seen allowing the mosquitoes to breed in their surroundings by not keeping the vicinity clean.
The officials visited various locations at Gujjarakere, Bolar, Emmekere, Mahakalipadpu, Mangaladevi and other surrounding areas and inspected the areas. When they found unclean areas near shops, business outlets and homes, breeding mosquitoes, they slammed penalty on owners of the property.
Along with their drive, they also created awareness among the public about how to avoid the diseases like dengue, malaria among others. They asked the public to keep their surroundings clean and warned of action if they don’t maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.
