Dr. PN Mayya remembered in NSS day celebrations

Mangalore:Celebration of National Service Scheme(NSS) day and  commemoration of former HOD of Kannada dept. and NSS officer of the college Dr. PN Mayya was held in Roshani Nilaya college today.

The state minister for fisheries Shri. Abhayachandra Jain inaugurated the program.

Minister Jain in his inaugural speech said, “Students should inculcate the values of NSS in their life. Being self dependent they should work to give justice to people.”

Later he congratulated the college for organizing the program.

The chief guest of the program was famous orthopedic surgeon and associate chancellor of Nitte University, Dr.Shantaram Shetty.

He said “There are three types of motivation in a person’s life. First is the award motivation where people work for the sake of awards. Second is the fear motivation where people are motivated because of the fear and third is one which comes from heart and the students should follow the third one in their lives.”

In the later part of the event., the chief guest of the program, secretary of Shree Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara  Education society, Dr. B Yashovarma also spoke on the occasion.

Another guest of the program Chairman of dept. of women research, University for Women, Bijapur, and creator of the NSS Anthem Dr.MB Dilshaad not only sang the Anthem for the students along with the key note address, but also answered to the queries of the students.

Dr.Dilshaad and newly elected secretary of All college students union and 2nd MSW student of the college, Avinand were felicitated at the occasion. 

The principal of the college Dr.Sophia Fernandes presided over the function.

NSS Officer Dr.Madhav M, student coordinators Kishore D’souza, Ishwarya JS, Prakash K Ramya and Pooja Upadhyaya were present at the occasion.

The examination officer of the college Dr.Lakshminarayana Bhat rendered the commemoration speech of Dr.PN Mayya.

In commemoration of Dr.Mayya inter college Street play competition has been organized for the students of Dakshina Kannda, Udupi and Madikeri districts and the college has also organized a blood donation and grouping camp in association with the Red Army, Inner wheel and Rotary Club Mangalore North today.
