Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will confer the Ullal Srinivas Mallya memorial award on international Saxophonist Dr Kadri Gopalnath.
Addressing the media at a press meet MCC City Corporation Mayor said that apart from the renowned saxophonist who will receive a purse of Rs one lakh, various other achievers too would be feted. Yakshagana Bagwath Raghuram Rao, K A Rohini (education) and Poovamma (sports) Will be honoured with purse of Rs 50,000 each.
A committee consisting of folk scholar Professor B Vivek Rai, Journalist Manohar Prasad, Lecturer Rita Norohna, and Syndicate former president KN Thingalayam have selected the awardees.
The award will be conferred on the Council Day celebration to be held on December 8 at around 2.30 pm.
Dharamasthala Dharmadikari Dr. Veerendra Heggade, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA JR Lobo, MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik,and MLC Ivan D’Souza will be present during the programme.
