Mangaluru: “Apart from concentrating on our professional life, we should also focus on our health and personal life”, said retired deputy commissioner Prabhakar Sharma on Thursday, July 23.

He was speaking at a condolence meeting organised at the Patrika Bhavan for video journalist Nagesh Padu, who died due to dengue on the midnight of Sunday, July 21. Sharma said, “As health is very important in our life, we should focus on it. The sudden demise of a young journalist is really a shock”, he said.

DKDWJA President Srinivas Nayak Indaje recalling the friendly and helping nature of Nagesh said, “When other journalists were in distress, Nagesh used to inform the association to provide them help. However, it is very sad that he lost his life despite all the efforts by the doctors. As most of the journalists are working under pressure round the clock, they need proper rest. As there is a spurt in dengue and malaria cases, the association would arrange for free blood check-up camps and other necessary arrangements to the journalist fraternity in the next coming days”, he said.

Meanwhile, journalists Balakrishna Puttige, Lakshminarayan, P B Hareesh Rai, Sathya, Vijay Kotian Padu, Ansar Inoli, Raveendra Shetty, Arif Padubidri, Bhaskar Rai Katta, Pushparaj B N and Shashidhar Poyyathabail recalled their association with victim Nagesh. All those who condoled the sad demise of Nagesh opined that the association should earmark a certain amount to help the journalists who meet with accidents or any type of distress.
