DK to be under complete lockdown tomorrow: Minister Kota

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district administration has decided to observe a complete lockdown on Saturday, March 28, from 6 AM.

The decision was taken during a meeting convened under the chairmanship of Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Friday, March 27.

As the number of COVID-19 cases increased to seven on Friday, an emergency meeting was convened to take appropriate measures to stop the spread of the virus. Later, it was decided to completely shut the entire district down on Saturday.

Minister Poojary urged the people to cooperate with the district administration and stay indoors the entire day.

Even though prohibitory orders were clamped on the district under section 144 in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus, the district administration had allowed people to leave their homes to purchase essential commodities between 6 am and 12 pm.

However, with the latest decision, the whole district will into a complete shut down tomorrow and there will not won’t be any relaxation for the public to leave their homes.

Reportedly, milk will be available and pharmacies will be open.

Mangaluru City Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha has also asked the police not to obstruct the movement of goods lorries.
