DK sees dip in COVID cases; 144 test positive, eight dead, 209 discharged

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered 144 fresh cases and eight COVID-19 deaths, on Monday, August 17.

Of the eight dead, three are from the Mangaluru taluk, one is from Bantwal, one is from Puttur, and three are from other districts. Comorbidities were found in all of these cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 9,022 while 2,091 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 277.

A whopping 209 patients were discharged on Monday, from various hospitals.

Among the 144 new cases, 88 are from Mangaluru, 18 are from Bantwal, eight are from Puttur, one is from Sullia, 10 are from Belthangady, and 19 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.
