DK reports whopping 448 new COVID cases; Six dead, 293 discharged

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered a whopping 448 new cases and six COVID-19 deaths, on Friday, August 28.

Of the six dead, three are from the Mangaluru taluk, one is from Bantwal, one is from Puttur, and one is from another district. Comorbidities were found in all of the cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 11,837 while 2,521 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 343.

As many as 293 patients were discharged. Of these, 170 were quarantined at home, 112 were being treated in the hospital, and 11 were from the COVID care centre.

Among the 448 new cases, 273 are from Mangaluru alone, 103 are from Bantwal, 27 are from Puttur, 17 are from Sullia, 18 are from Belthangady and 10 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.

As many as 190 of the new cases are symptomatic (127 men and 63 women) while the remaining 258 are asymptomatic (157 men and 101 women).

Of the 448 cases, 66 persons have contact history, 149 have influenza-like illnesses, 17 are SARI patients, 215 are under investigation, and one has a history of international travel.
