DK reports 272 new COVID cases; Seven dead, 236 discharged

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered 272 new cases and seven COVID-19 deaths, on Saturday, August 29.

Of the seven dead, one is from the Mangaluru taluk, four are from Puttur, and two are from other districts. Comorbidities were found in all of the cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 12,109 while 2,550 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 350.

As many as 236 patients were discharged. Of these, 137 were quarantined at home, 97 were being treated in the hospital, and two were from the COVID care centre.

Among the 272 new cases, 163 are from Mangaluru alone, 30 are from Bantwal, 33 are from Puttur, 23 are from Sullia, 11 are from Belthangady and 12 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.

As many as 127 of the new cases are symptomatic (83 men and 44 women) while the remaining 145 are asymptomatic (85 men and 60 women).

Of the 272 cases, 43 persons have contact history, 101 have influenza-like illnesses, 15 are SARI patients, 110 are under investigation, and three have a history of international travel.
