DK reports 270 new COVID cases; 12 dead, 367 discharged

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered a 270 new cases and 12 COVID-19 deaths, on Monday, August 31.

Of the 12 dead, six are from the Mangaluru taluk, one is from Bantwal, one is from Puttur, one is from Belthangady, and three are from other districts. Comorbidities were found in all of the cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 12,713 while 2,556 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 368.

As many as 367 patients were discharged. Of these, 294 were quarantined at home, 71 were being treated in the hospital, and two were from the COVID care centre.

Among the 270 new cases, 117 are from Mangaluru alone, 90 are from Bantwal, 24 are from Puttur, 14 are from Sullia, 14 are from Belthangady and 11 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.

As many as 113 of the new cases are symptomatic (70 men and 43 women) while the remaining 157 are asymptomatic (85 men and 72 women).

Of the 270 cases, 64 persons have contact history, 92 have influenza-like illnesses, 14 are SARI patients, 99 are under investigation, and one has a history of domestic travel.
