Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday, July 18, reported 237 new COVID-19 positive cases and four deaths as a result of the disease.
It can be recalled that on Friday, July 18, the district reported the highest number of cases so far, with 311 new infections.
According to the bulletin released by the district administration, three of the deceased are from the Mangaluru taluk and one is from the Puttur taluk.
The deceased from Puttur is a 74-year-old woman who had diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart disease, and asthma. She passed away on July 17.
A 67-year-old man, who was suffering from a stroke and pneumonia, a 49-year-old woman suffering from chronic kidney disease and had a cardiac arrest, and a 61-year-old woman with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hypertension and suffered a cardiac arrest are the deceased from the Dakshina Kannada district. They all died on Saturday.
The bulletin states that there are a total of 3,311 positive cases in the district, of which 1,848 are active.
On a positive note, 109 people were discharged after making a full recovery. So far, 1,387 people have been discharged.
Additionally, 26,368 samples have been tested so far for COVID-19.
