DK reports 201 new COVID cases; Six dead, 241 discharged

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered 201 new cases and six COVID-19 deaths, on Monday, August 24.

Of the six dead, three are from the Mangaluru taluk, two are from Bantwal, and one is from another district. Comorbidities were found in all of the cases.

The total COVID positive cases stand at 10,531 while 2,297 are active cases.

The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 316.

As many as 241 patients were discharged. Of these, 180 were quarantined at home, 58 were being treated in the hospital, and three were from the COVID care centre.

Among the 201 new cases, 144 are from Mangaluru, 22 are from Bantwal, five are from Puttur, five are from Sullia, seven are from Belthangady and 18 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.

As many as 73 of the new cases are symptomatic (47 men and 26 women) while the remaining 128 are asymptomatic (88 men and 40 women).

Of the 201 cases, 17 persons have contact history, 102 have influenza-like illnesses, 13 are SARI patients, 90 are under investigation, two have history of domestic travel, and four have history of international travel.
