Mangaluru: “Dakshina Kannada district has undertaken highest number of Covid tests after BBMP in past 7 days, and took all possible measures to curb the positivity rate of Covid – 19,” said Deputy Commissioner Rajendra K. V.
Addressing the virtual press meet on the google meet platform here on Saturday June 19, he said “the district administration has undertaken effective measures to control the spread of Covid – 19. The complete seal down has been announced in 18 village panchayats having more than 50 active Covid cases. Directions are given to the village accountants,PDO’s, Health officials to manage the pandemic effectively.”
“The district administration will decide on the continuation of lockdown or inclusion of more villages after collecting details about the number of active cases,” he said.
“In spite of the increase in positivity rate, no incidents of shortage of beds, oxygen, or ventilators are reported in the district. Following guidelines of the State Government, the district administration, MLAs, district in-charge minister, disaster management authority will decide on unlocking in a staged manner in the district,” he added.
