DK district to conduct 65th Sahakara Saptaha from November 14

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Co-operative Union Ltd is organising a week-long programme to mark the 65th Akhila Bharata Sahakara Saptaha at different locations in DK district between November 14 and 20. The inaugural programme will be held at the premises of Karnataka Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (KMF) in Kulashekar on November 14.

Informing about the programme, Co-operative Union President Harish Acharya told reporters on Monday, November 12, that the programme will be inaugurated by South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank Chairman M N Rajendra Kumar and presided over by Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath. Meanwhile, the newly constructed milk plant and new machines will be inaugurated on the same occasion. Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Opposition leader in Karnataka Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary, Dakshina Kannada district Zilla Panchayat President Meenakshi Shantigodu, Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Society Ltd (CAMPCO) Managing Director S Sathishchandra, MLAs S Angara, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Harish Poonja, Rajesh Naik, Umanath Kotian, Dr. Y Bharath Shetty among others will participate in the programme”, he informed.

Speaking on the various programmes scheduled at different locations between November 14 and 20, Harish Acharya said, “The second-day programme will be held at Gurunarayana Sabha Bhavan in Beltangady on November 15, where discussions will be held on the topic of organic farming and the role of cooperative institutions in zero investment businesses. The third-day programme will be held under the title of ‘Value addition and brand making through cooperative sectors’ at Mudipu Auditorium on November 16. The 4th, 5th and 6th programmes will be held at Sullia, Savanoor Beluvayi on November 17, 18 and 19 respectively. The valedictory of the programme will be held at the auditorium of SCDCC Bank on November 20”, he informed.

KMF President K Raviraj Hegde, Managing Director Dr. B V Sathyanarayan and Kaup Cooperative Agricultural Bank President Kaup Divakar Shetty among others were present.
