Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district registered 228 fresh cases and four COVID-19 deaths, on Saturday, August 22.
Of the four dead, two are from the Mangaluru taluk, one is from Bantwal, and one is from another district. Comorbidities were found in all of the cases.
The total COVID positive cases stand at 10,137 while 2,319 are active cases.
The district’s total COVID fatality stands at 305.
A whopping 320 patients were discharged on Thursday. Of these, 296 were quarantined at home and the remaining 24 were being treated in the hospital.
Among the 228 new cases, 150 are from Mangaluru, 23 are from Bantwal, 15 are from Puttur, eight are from Sullia, seven are from Belthangady and 25 are from other districts, the district health bulletin informed.
As many as 121 of the new cases are symptomatic (67 men and 54 women) while the remaining 107 are asymptomatic (72 men and 35 women).
Of the 228 cases, 17 persons have contact history, 102 have influenza-like illnesses, 13 are SARI patients, 90 are under investigation, two have history of domestic travel, and four have history of international travel.
