Mangaluru: Five youth of the Bantwal Taluk, who had attempted to rescue a person who jumped into Nethravathi river in Panemangaluru two days ago, were felicitated by the District Youth Congress on Tuesday, May 26.
It can be noted that Mohammed, Thousif, Zameer, Zahid and Arif P J tried to rescue Nishanth of Kalladka, who had jumped into Nethravathi river on May 24. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful as Nishanth passed away.
The five youth were appreciated for risking their lives to try and save Nishanth.
District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai took the initiative to facilitate the brave youth and during the felicitation, the five youth were given Rs 15,000 each.
After the felicitation, Mithun Rai said, “During this corona era, people are afraid to go near others. However, these five youth put their lives at risk in order to save another. Though they could not succeed in their attempt, they made the right move in an emergency.”
District Congress president and MLC Hareesh Kumar and other leaders like Anil Kumar, Lukman Bantwal, Prasad Malli, Chandrahas, Agreed Ullal and others were present.
