Mangaluru: Diesel Café at Hotel Prestige, Balmatta, Mangaluru hosted a unique ‘Coffee Workshop’ for connoisseurs on Friday, April 21. The workshop was conducted by Gerson Aranha, who is a coffee expert from The Coffee Co., Mumbai.

Addressing a select group of invited guests, Gerson Aranha familiarized them on the different varieties of coffee and its processing techniques. Subsequently he introduced and gave live demo of different types of brewing processes like Pour Over method, Aeropress method, French Press method and Moka Pot method. This was followed with interactive session where Aranha answered questions and clarified doubts from the guests.

“India is one of the world’s largest exporters of coffee and Mangalore is very close to Chikmagalur, which is the birthplace of Indian coffee,” said Gerson Aranha, “Hence it’s about time we learned more about coffee and the best ways to brew it.”

More such workshops will be held in the future to promote coffee culture in the city, says Damodar Shetty, Director of Operations of Hotel Prestige.

This is also one among the many outreach campaigns planned by Diesel Café, which underwent total transformation recently. It now sports a smart new retro look with the interiors evoking 60’s style American café. It has also started a new trend in Mangalore offering world cuisine, including Italian, Continental and South East Asian.
