Belthangady: Taking into consideration the water shortage in Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple, the devotees from Sankenahalli of Basavanagudi Bengaluru sent 6,780 litres of drinking water as offering on Monday, May 20.

About 6,780 litres of water was filled in 339 cans 20-litre individual capacity. The devotees brought the water to the temple in their vehicles.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Hegde said that this water was being used for cooking rice in the Annapurna Chatra and for drinking purposes of the devotees.

It may be noted that River Nethravathi flowing at the foot of the temple premises has gone dry, forcing the temple authorities to appeal to the devotees to postpone their temple visit.
