Desist from rumours: Compol Dr Harsha warns netizens

Mangaluru: Even as the entire world comes united to fight against the coronavirus, several instances of rumour mongering have been seen.

Over the last few days several whatsapp messages surrounding district wenlock hospital have been making rounds here in Dakshina Kannada district.

.Speaking on these lines, Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Dr Harsha has issued a warning to those spreading fake news and messsages on Whastapp.

“Lot of rumour mongering is going on in connection with COVID 19.. in one such case allegedly misinformation is being spread about wenlock hospital .. Based on complaint of medical authorities a case would be registered and strict legal action will follow..Desist from rumours,” read a tweet from the Compol.

Recently a video of a man on hospital bed wearing mask went viral. The video showed a man wearing pink trousers and white T-shirt gasping for air.

The video claimed that this was a COVID-19 case that is being handled in Wenlock Hospital. While the hospital authorities clarified that it was a fake news, the Compol issued warning to people to stay away from spreading rumours.
