Puttur: Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the dengue fever has become active and has started claiming lives in the district. Most recently, a 32-year-old lady from Ariyadka near Puttur has become the second victim of this disease this year.

The deceased is been identified as Naseema, wife of Nazeem Master. She succumbed to the fever late on June 18 night at a private hospital.

Nazeema was suffering from a fever for a week and was treated in Puttur. Since her fever increased, she was referred to a Mangaluru hospital where she died after failing to respond to treatment. She is survived by her husband and three sons.

A week ago, a woman from Bettampady also succumbed to Dengue. Soon after this, the health department had started spreading awareness about preventive measures to be taken to stay safe from the disease.
