Mangaluru: Heavy rains and rough sea are expected in the next 48 hours in the western coast of Arabian Sea, warned the meteorological department.
The weather system in the area was likely to intensify into a deep depression, it said.
The meteorological department also asked the fishermen from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu not to venture into sea for next 48 hours to ensure their safety.
According to the weather forecast, the depression is likely to move in the North-West direction towards the Gulf Countries of Oman and Yemen. Squally winds about 45-55 km/hr and gusting to 65 km/hr are likely to originally from the Arabian Sea, the weather report said.
According to sources, the fishermen have left for deep sea fishing, as there is a 60-day ban on fishing from June 1. The unpredictable weather may force them to come ashore early.
