Mangaluru: “It has become a common trend to felicitate the people who had been to jail and give them a good position in a society. This is a sign of declining ethical values in the society”, said retired Lokayuktha Justice Santhosh Kumar Hegde.
He was addressing a National Conference of the International Association for Education in Ethics Curricular Innovation in Ethics Education in Yenepoya University on November 15.
“The decline of ethical values in the Legislative, Executive and Judiciary which are called pillars of democracy is not a good development. We can witness such developments in various sections in the society. Earlier, in society there were no good positions given to those people who had been to jail. But this has changed now”, he said.
He also said that in democracy, the decline of ethical values had led to rampant corruption and also the decline of humanity in the society.
