Mangaluru: As chief secretary of Karnataka has sent a circular and instructed Deputy Commissioners of the districts to hoist the national flag during the Independence Day celebration, Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil would hoist flag at Nehru Maidan on August 15.
The Karnataka government has decided to celebrate the country’s independence day in a simple way as most parts of the state had been affected by floods and incessant rain. The chief secretary of Karnataka Vijaya Bhaskar, in a circular informed that independence day should be celebrated in a simple way and Deputy Commissioners of the districts should hoist the flag in the district centre, except in Bengaluru Urban.
In sub-divisional centres, assistant commissioners’ should hoist the flag and Tahasildars should hoist flag at the Taluk centres.
Usually, district in-charge Ministers are the authorised persons to hoist the national flag during the independence day celebration. As cabinet expansion has not been done so far and B S Yediyurappa is the only person who has been sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, he would hoist national flag during the independence day celebration at Vidhana Soudha on August 15.
