DC orders ban on vehicular movement on old Kuloor bridge

Mangaluru: Owing to urgent repair works, the vehicular movement will be restricted on Old Kuloor bridge from Monday, March 16.

Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in her order informed that the repair works of bridge has been given to G S Arad constructions and the vehicular movement would be banned from Monday.

In wake of this, the new bridge will be opened for two-way traffic till the repair works are completed. Light vehicles, buses and trucks ( six wheels) on Mangaluru-Udupi route will be allowed to ply on the new bridge.

Meanwhile, all types of heavy trucks including containers, bullet tankers, cranes and trailers will not be allowed to ply on the new bridge.

Heavy trucks from Udupi to Bengaluru will have to take diversion via Padubidri-Karkala route.

Meanwhile, heavy trucks from Udupi to Mangaluru will have to take diversion via Mulki-Kinnigoli-Moodbidri route or Haleyangadi-Kinnigoli-Moodbidri-Suratkal-Bajpe route.

Deputy Commissioner, in her order has stated that all precautions will be taken to prevent accidents on the new bridge. Divider cones, barricades and signboards will be placed at all important spots.
