Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday, July 29, reported 208 new COVID-19 positive cases and seven deaths (including two from another district) as a result of the disease.
Four of the dead are from the Mangaluru taluk and three are from other districts.
According to the bulletin released by the district administration, the five deceased are: a 52-year-old man from Padubidri (died on July 27), 62-year-old man from Bantwal (died on July 28), 69-year-old woman from Mangaluru (died on July 28), 73-year-old man from Mangaluru (died on July 28), a 66-year-old man from Dharwad (died on July 28), a 66-year-old man from Karwar (died on July 28), and a 39-year-old man from Mangaluru (died on July 28).
Additionally, the bulletin states that there are a total of 5,311 positive cases have been reported in the district, of which 2,715 are active.
On a positive note, 118 people were discharged after making a full recovery. So far, 2,456 people have been discharged.
As many as 37,014 samples have been tested so far for COVID-19.
