Mangaluru: The Indian Coast Guard personnel plunged into action and saved the lives of as many as 11 fishermen who were aboard a fishing when a cylinder kept inside the boat exploded.
A fishing boat of Tamil Nadu was involved in fishing activities about 140 nautical miles off the Mangaluru port when the boat caught fire following the explosion.
The distressed fishermen contacted the Coast Guard and promptly the patrol vehicles- Sacheth and Sujith reached the spot.
A Dornier aircraft was pressed into action to locate the boat.
All the severely injured fishermen were rushed to the hospital and as per sources all the fishermen are safe.
