Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh asked the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) to form a special task force in order to ensure proper implementation of the prohibitory orders and create awareness among the public on how to curb the spread of COVID-19.
As per the directions, the MCC has to form a total of 20 teams to oversee the 60 wards that come under the Corporation’s jurisdiction. The task force will be supervised by three executive engineers of the MCC, an environmental engineer and two other officials, who will look after the teams’ activities.
This special task force has been asked to ensure that those who return from abroad in their ward, are placed under home quarantine and do not leave their houses for any reason. The team should also take care of the health of the family members of the foreign returnees.
A poster provided by the district administration which reads “This house is under surveillance: Don’t enter this house” should be stuck on the wall of those who have returned from abroad. This special task force should ensure that this is done. The task force also should ensure that people purchase essential commodities only within the prescribed time of 6 AM to 12 PM.
