Mangaluru: MLA Vedavyas Kamath said that he has written to the Chairman of Dakshina Kannada Milk Producers’ Union (DKMPU) to print the Tulu alphabets using Tulu script on the packaging of its various products and distribute it to the consumers in Dakshina Kannada district. He inaugurated the completed works of installing LED bulbs in the place of conventional bulbs under Mangalore City Corporation limits on Sunday July 25.

After speaking about his instructions to the DKMPU, Kamath said that very soon he will make a request to Cooperation Minister H. T. Somashekar too and see that it is implemented soon. The Tulu language spoken in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod districts has a strong historical background, he noted.

Further, he said, “various inscriptions have been found that has Tulu script engraved on it. The language can be saved only when it’s script is in use.” Keeping this in mind, I have given this instructions to DKMPU, he informed.

Speaking about the installation of LED bulbs, Kamath maintained that this was done under complete public-private partnership and is part of Smart City project. No financial burden will be on Mangaluru City Corporation for its maintenance for the next seven years, he maintained.
