Mangaluru: “There is a conspiracy to divide the Hindus by claiming that Hindu leaders are against the Dalit community. Don’t pay heed to such talks. We all need to stand united,” said Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international president Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje on Saturday, December 28.
He was addressing the gathering during a programme “Sneha Milana’, organised as part of the 6-days long international conference of the VHP at Sanghanikethan in Mannagudda.
He said, “Though we have different castes and communities in our religion, we are all one. We must know that there are attempts being made to divide us, but we should fight against it collectively.”
VHP national general secretary Milind Parande said that though India is a Hindu country and the Hindu population is more than 100 crore, some Hindus hesitate to say that they are Hindus.
“ In such a situation, our opponents can easily divide us. We should not allow them to do so. VHP is striving hard to unite Hindus over the last several years,” he said calling upon all Hindus to join hands in building a strong society.
Presiding over the programme, Nitte (Deemed to be University) Chancellor N Vinay Hegde opined that the effort to divide Hindus started during the regime of the British government. “ They had succeeded in their efforts to some extent. However, it is very disappointing that we are facing the challenge from our own people. Construction of Ram Mandir is our dream. If everything goes as per the plan, we can see Ram Mandir in the next couple of months,” Hegde added.
Meanwhile, guests at the programme released a souvenir of VHP “Samarpana”, on the same occasion
VHP national working president Alok Kumar G, state working president Prof M B Puranik, district president Gopal Kuttar, secretary Shivanand Mendon and others were present.
