Mangaluru: Asserting that the Congress party will retain power in Karnataka, MLC and Congress party Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza on January 11, said, “Congress will come to power with a vast majority in the 2018 assembly elections.”
Addressing a press meet at the Congress Bhavan, Mallikatte, Ivan said, “The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has governed the state without corruption for the last 4 years and 8 months. The people will choose the Congress party for its pro-development stance and the various developmental projects in the state. The ‘Parivarthana Rally’ by the BJP is a flop show. The BJP is losing its base in the state.”
Slamming the BJP National Chief Amit Shah, Ivan said, “Amit Shah wants the BJP to come to power by creating communal unrest and indulging in violence. Amit Shah is known for violence and criminal activities. Hence, he is encouraging strikes and dharans which lead to violence.”
On Amit Shah’s comment that the Congress government in the state is pursuing anti-Hindu policies, Ivan stated that in the government led by Siddaramaiah, 95 percent of the ministers are Hindus, and questioned how such a government could be anti-Hindu.
