Mangaluru: Even after Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil’s clamping of the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code between 8 AM of May 18 to 10 AM of May 19 in the Dakshina Kannada district, the Congress and JDS party workers on Saturday, celebrated B S Yeddyurappa’s resignation from his post as chief minister of Karnataka.

Several Congress party workers who gathered at the district Congress office in Mallikatte along with former MLA J R Lobo, celebrated Yeddyurappa’s resignation as the CM by bursting crackers and distributing sweets among the public.

Even the JDS party workers joined the celebrations.

It may be recalled that Yeddyurappa tendered his resignation from his post as chief minister way before taking the floor test. On May 15, the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the assembly with 104 votes, eight short of the simple majority. While the Governor gave BJP 15 days time to prove it’s majority, the Supreme Court advanced it to May 19 at 4 PM.

On these lines, though the BJP arrived at the Vidhan Soudha, Yeddyurappa refused to go for the floor test, choosing to resign beforehand.
