Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza hinted that the Congress would approach Supreme Court, questioning the move of Governor Vajubhai Vala to invite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government despite them not having majority.
Addressing the reporters here on Saturday, July 27 Ivan said, ” The Governor has ignored the guidelines of the constitution while inviting the BJP to form government. In order to form the government, any political party should have the support of a prescribed number of MLAs. However, the Governor did not ask the BJP to furnish the list of MLAs. As this move was against the constitution, Congress would approach the Supreme Court seeking justice.”
Ivan clarified that he would not approach court personally, but his party would do the same. “Though Chief Minister would succeed to prove majority during floor test, the government would not complete its full tenure as there are number of aspirants waiting to become ministers”, he predicted.
Meanwhile, Ivan alleged that Yediyurappa was indulging into hate politics as he asked chief secretary of government to withhold the administrative approvals of the coalition government, which are taken during the month of July. “If the pro-people programmes of the Congress-JDS coalition government are withheld, the party would stage a severe dharna in the next coming days”, he stressed.
