Mangaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party Mangaluru South Constituency MLA Vedavyas Kamath accused the Congress party of opening its election office in an under construction bar building, here on Thursday, April 4.

Speaking to media in a press meet at the BJP election office located in Bunts Hostel, he said, “The Congress party which points fingers at us questioning our tradition, has clearly shown its own by opening its party election office in an under construction bar building belonging to a person named Joachim Louis Pinto.”

“There are clear instructions from the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) that nobody is supposed to occupy the building which has no completion certificate. But the Congress has misused the power with a confidence that the current state coalition government of Congress and Janata Dal (S) is in their favour, and has gone ahead and illegally occupied the building. If they are of this mindset before the elections, you can imagine what they can do after the elections”, he added.

He said the people would give them a befitting reply in the elections.

Slamming the Congress leaders for criticising the BJP’s MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, he said, “I will not compare AICC President Rahul Gandhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but with our MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. Our MP has brought around Rs 16550 Crore to his constituency but how much has Rahul Gandhi given to Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh which he represents? He has managed to get only Rs 380 Crore, which is peanuts compared to our MP Nalin’s contribution.”

Vedavyas said, “It was only MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who has implemented Smart City project and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. Even though he has toiled so much, the previous Siddaramaiah-led Congress and the current H D Kumaraswamy-led coalition government have failed to implement them.”

BJP district leaders Kishore Shetty, Premanand Shetty, Bhaskar Shetty and others were present.

Meanwhile, the District BJP has confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a public gathering on Saturday, April 13. As a preparation for this on Saturday, April 6 at 10 AM ‘Chappara Muhurta’ (a programme of setting the stage on auspicious time) will be held at 10 AM, in which the BJP state election In-charge and former deputy chief minister R Ashok and other party leaders will be joining.
