Mangaluru/Bengaluru: The Congress, on Sunday has released its first list of 218 candidates to contest in the May 12 Karnataka assembly elections for the 224 seats across the southern state.
The list was finalised after due consultations between AICC President Rahul Gandhi, State Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday after marathon meetings held on Saturday remained inconclusive. At the meeting it was also decided that the chief minister would contest from just Chamundeswari constituency.
While names of candidates, based on their winnability for 218 seats have been announced in the list, the name for seats will be announced at a later date and one seat will be of a supporting candidate.
The list of candidates who have been given seats from undivided Dakshina Kannada are as below

Kundapura: Rakesh Malli
Karkala: Gopal Bhandary
Kaup: Vinay Kumar Sorake
Byndoor: Gopal Poojary K
Belthangady: Vasanth Bangera
Mulki-Moodabidri: Abhaychandra Jain
Mangalore North: Moideen Bawa
Mangalore South: John Richard Lobo
Mangalore: U T Khader
Bantwal: Ramanath Rai
Puttur: Shakunthala Shetty
Sullia: Dr. Raghu
The state goes to polls on May 12 and counting will be held on May 15.
